World Trade Organization Rejects the US Appeal; COOL Retaliation a Possibility

The World Trade Organization (WTO) rejects the US Appeal in its dispute with Canada and Mexico regarding country of origin labeling of meat muscle cuts. In 2013, the Department of Agricultural finalized the U.S. COOL law which increases the burden of record keeping for imported livestock. Canada and Mexico have stated that the COOL law discriminates against foreign products and producers.
