The CBSA has confirmed that information currently available regarding wood packaging shipped between Canada and the U.S. is up to date.
CBSA has also advised that the CFIA is currently engaging with stakeholders to find collaborative solutions to enhance risk mitigation on wood dunnage entering via marine trade and it is anticipated that D-98-08 will be revised by the spring of 2017 to reflect these solutions.
CFIA’s discussions with its U.S. counterparts will determine next steps in advancing a bilateral solution aimed at enhancing risk mitigation for wood packaging used in trade between Canada and the U.S., while not impeding trade.
