The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has provided an updated memo regarding the labour disruption and the non-report of containers on vessels diverted from a US Marine Port to a Canadian Marine Port.
The CBSA in the Pacific Region has performed a review of the AMPS received by carriers who were caught in the diversion cycle as a result of recent labour disruption on the US west coast.
To summarize, the CBSA requires the cargo to be specifically reported and acknowledges that due to diversion issues the transmission of cargo data may be outside of set timeframes, but ultimately we require that the cargo be reported.
Please note that the local affected port should be contacted directly when you find yourself in the position of not being able to transmit cargo data.
