The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has updated the guidance for simulated meat and poultry products in order to:
• clarify labelling and composition requirements for simulated meat and poultry products, and
• explain when food products do not meet the definition of a simulated meat or poultry product.
The regulatory definition and requirements for simulated meat and poultry products have not changed. The revised guidance seeks to clarify existing rules, promote market consistency and prevent foods from being mislabeled. Consult the notice to industry to learn more.
The guidance was updated in consultation with consumers and industry who commented on the proposed updates. Thanks to everyone who participated in the consultation and shared their valuable feedback
