Update to the procedure for importation of casings from the U.S.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has negotiated importation conditions with the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) for casings from the United States (U.S.).

Important updates are as below:

The letter of guarantee which accompanied each casings import shipment is no longer requiredU.S. processing establishment must be approved under Agricultural Marketing Service Export Verification (AMS EV) Program for Canada. List of EV approved establishments can be obtained from https://www.ams.usda.gov/services/imports-exports/natural-casings-ca

A one-month transition period will be provided, ending on May 15, 2025. During the transition period, the CFIA will continue to approve shipments with previous import requirements. After the transition period, current requirements negotiated with FSIS will be apply.
