U.S. Government Shutdown Expected on October 1st

It is expected that the U.S. Congress will not pass the spending bill by September 30th and the federal government will “shutdown” on October 1st 2023. If this occurs, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will continue clearance operations to ensure the flow of trade. However, Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) such as the FDA, APHIS, and the EPA may not be fully staffed, which will result in processing delays.

Additionally, administrative functions at CBP will cease during this time.

There is no timetable for the resumption of normal business operations once the shutdown begins.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as the situation continues to develop. If you have any questions, please contact transitionteamus@willsonintl.com
