The National Marine Fisheries Service will ban imports from some countries

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) will now ban imports of fish from countries that are not deemed to have comparable marine mammal protections.  This final rule states that a “List of Foreign Fisheries” will be published every four years that shows the countries eligible to export fish into the US.   However, there will be a five (5) year grace period before import restrictions take effect unless circumstance dictate that emergency action must be taken before then.
