ASISST moves to CFIA Shipment Tracker for Food, Plant and Animal – will soon be available for all commodities

A timeline for the redeploy of the CFIA shipment tracker will be established at a later date.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is making it easier for food, plants, or animals importers to track the status of their imports. For all commodities declared using the Integrated Import Declarations (IID), importers can now use the CFIA Shipment Tracker for Food, Plant and Animal online tool to easily track the status of their shipment.

What’s New?

Importers that want to verify the status of their import shipment no longer have to call into the National Import Service Centre (NISC). To check the status of their import, importers will require their Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) 14 digit transaction number. For meat only, importers can continue to use an Official Meat Inspection Certificate number, as well as their 14 digit tracking number. The US, Australia and NZ can use the tool to search for their inspection AND transaction status. Other countries will need to have a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) 14 digit transaction number to verify the status of their import using the tool.

The Automated Shipment Inspection Status Search Tool (ASISST) that was used by industry to check the status of their imports of meat and meat products from the United States, Australia and New Zealand has been renamed to CFIA Shipment Tracker for Food, Plant and Animal.
