Although the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) came into force on January 15, 2019, certain requirements are being phased in over time.
SFCR licenses MUST be reported where required, without exception.
Importers are responsible for obtaining their SFCR licence. Questions about applying for or amending your SFC licence, can be directed to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) Centre of Administration (PH: 1.800.442.2342).

Attempts to import food without a valid SFCR licence to import, shipments MAY experience delays or rejection at the border.
In addition, any non-compliance with the Safe Food for Canadians Act (SFCA) and its regulations may result in enforcement actions, up to and including administrative monetary penalties and/or prosecution.
