Revisions to the Canadian Heat Treated Wood Products Certification Program

Please note that the CFIA directive D-13-01 Canadian Heat Treated Wood Products Certification Program (HT Program) has been revised to:

  • Add information related to the process for suspension or cancellation of registered facilities due to major non-conformance (see section 4.2).
  • Strengthen the requirements related to reuse, repair and remanufactured of wood packaging material in Appendix 2.
  • Update the frequency of audits in Appendix 4.
  • Clarify requirements for wood packaging as well as traceability and segregation in Appendix 5, including the approval to use HT lumber from abroad, as long as the HT lumber is produced by a facility approved under ALSC and marked in accordance with ALSC requirements. Requirements to facilitate the re-export of US origin lumber to other countries were also clarified.
  • Appendix 8, with examples of Observations, was added.
  • The order of some sections has been changed to improve the flow of the information. Additional clarifications were also added throughout the document.
