Removal of special authority related to COVID-19

Please be advised that the relief of customs duties for eligible goods, is set to expire May, 07 2022.

Special authorization code 73-2529 used in conjunction with Tariff Item No. 9993.00.00 allowed for the relief of duty and tax for goods required for an emergency and are imported by or on behalf of federal, provincial or municipal entities involved such as centres for health care as well as by or on behalf of members of first response organizations such as police, fire and local civil defence groups, including medical response teams. Public or private care residences, such as seniors’ residences, retirement homes, nursing homes and shelters, were added to the order April 06, 2020.

Special authorization code 20-304 allowed for the relief of duties for certain goods imported under specific conditions.    The relief of customs duties applied to eligible goods, as per the conditions found in the Certain Goods Remission Order, imported from May 5, 2020 to May 7, 2022 inclusively.

This relief can be claimed at the time of importation or within two years of the date of importation.
