Phytosanitary import requirements for fresh and dried branches, roots, cones, etc.

The following has been updated on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency website.

On March 3, 2016, Directive 14-03 will come into force. D-14-03 takes guidance from a number of sources and combines it into a single directive. This will make it easier to find information on the phytosanitary requirements for fresh and dried branches, roots, cones, foliage, flowers, lichens and mosses (including ornamental/decorative).

The two new requirements in this directive are:

Requirement for a phytosanitary certificate on fresh cut flowers from South Africa.

Requirement to allow the importation of willow branches (lulav) for a short period of time during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.

For more information, including a list of the directives being replaced by Directive 14-03, please see the Canadian Food Inspection Agency website.
