As we get closer to the new year, importers ands exporters should be aware that there will be a change to many tariff classification numbers on January 1st. It has been reported that the chapters that will broadly impacted are:
- Chapter 44: Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal
- Chapter 84: Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof
- Chapter 85: Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles
These changes will change many four- and six-digit level tariff numbers. Please prepare by reviewing your current classifications ahead of the changes. We will publish additional information on this topic when it becomes available.
