On Saturday, December 11th, 2021, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal Plant Health Inspections Service (APHIS) deployed a validation in U.S. Customs & Border Protection’s (CBP) Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system to validate the genus and species of commodities that require Lacey Act reporting.
This validation prevents the use of “SP” and “SPP” in the data transmission to the Partner Government Agency (PGA). Additionally, this will prevent common misspellings and mis-categorizations of the commodity. If incorrect data is transmitted, the entry will be rejected in CBP’s system and prevent release of the merchandise at the border.
Please be sure to include the correct information and spelling of genus and species on the Lacey paperwork that is submitted with the entry. This was released on CSMS #50102115.
