As a reminder to all of our clients, if your company ships wood products that require the PPQ 505, commonly referred to as the Lacey Act Declaration, please check your files and be sure you are using the current form.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been increasing their scrutiny of this form and the data requirements are required to be transmitted to obtain release at the border. The most common errors include: missing signature, incorrect genus and species, and use of the previous form.
The Lacey Act was introduced to protect global plant resources and is a required document for shipments including, but not limited to, lumber, articles of wood, bent wood furniture and kitchenware containing wood.
