The United States Senate has confirmed the appointment of Kevin McAleenan as the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. McAleenan has worked for U.S. Customs for 16 years and has been the acting commissioner since the beginning of the Trump administration. This confirmation has been pending for nearly one year. Among the responsibilities of immigration and the proposed border wall, McAleenan will also be facing the challenge of the ACE system. Funding for the continued improvement and maintenance of the system has not been secured past fiscal year 2018.
