FDA Requirements for Food Traceability – Small Entity Compliance Guide

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a “Small Entity Compliance Guide” to assist small businesses with compliance with the traceability requirements for high-risk foods. This requirement is effective January 20^th, 2026.

As outlined in the “Food Traceability list,” foods impacted include but are not limited to:

Nut Butters

Cucumbers

Herbs

Leafy Greens

Melons

Peppers
