On January 10th, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued the final guidance document for the Food Safety Verification Program. This document includes clarification on what information must be included and who must develop/perform FSVP activities.
In 2011, the US Government passed the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The purpose of this legislation is to prevent contamination rather than simply reacting after a problem is discovered.
