FDA Food Facility Registration – Extension Granted for UFI/DUNS Number Requirement

Every two (2) years, domestic and foreign facilities that manufacture, processes, pack, or hold food for human or animal consumption are required to renew their food facility registrations with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

This past renewal period, DUNS number was required to complete registration. On December 1^st, after delays in DUNS number processing, the FDA released guidance allowing registered parties to enter “PENDING” in the unique facility identifier (UFI) field if the DUNS number would not be received prior to December 31^st. If this was not updated within ninety (90 days), the registration would be cancelled.

The FDA has now extended that date to December 31^st, 2022.

Failure to renew registration will result in cancellation.
