If the FDA recognizes Canada as having an ‘equivalent’ food safety system, it would largely exempt Canada from the FDA’s new Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP). This comes on the heels of November 27th’s final rule by the FDA that exempts countries that are recognized as ‘equivalent.’ Currently, New Zealand is the only country recognized.
