FDA Begins Artificial Intelligence Pilot to Target Violative Seafood Shipments

In a constituent update, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that the agency has begun the second phase of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Imported Seafood Pilot program.

This program “is designed to enhance and improve the agency’s ability to quickly and efficiently identify imported seafood products that may pose a threat to public health” said the agency in the statement. This program is part of the FDA’s New Era of Smarter Food Safety initiative that hopes to leverage AI technologies.

This program is not expected to result in service interruptions to seafood importers and processors.
