Electronic Service Request Options for Plants and Plant Products

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is making it easier for you to do business online by encouraging plant-related service requests to be submitted by email (contact a local CFIA office the appropriate email address) or through My CFIA, the Agency’s online portal.  Please see below what method of submission is recommended for your specific activities.

Submitting requests online will not only minimize in-person contact, but also make it easier to process requests and support business continuity during and post pandemic.

Import permits

Please use My CFIA to request import permits for plants and plant. Email can be used, however, by using My CFIA, those who need a CFIA-issued permission can manage, track, and submit service requests anytime, anywhere.

All other plant-related service requests

If you are not already using email to submit your plant-related service requests to the CFIA, you are being asked to begin doing so by November 15, 2020.  In person, mail and fax are not encouraged as you may experience delays in processing, as not all local offices are operating at normal capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Please see the list of local CFIA offices that you can contact to ensure that you have the correct email address to use when submitting your requests.

An additional online self-serve measure has been put in place to support contactless payment transactions.  You can now pay for your service online using the Self-Serve Credit Card Payment Processing tool.
