Detroit CBP Intercepts Package with Canadian Currency Linked to Phone Scam

US Customs and Border Protection intercepted a package originating from Oshawa, destined for Kentucky, which contained $4,000 Canadian Dollars hidden inside.  The package was manifested as containing a book with a low value, but the destination address was determined to be non-existent and linked to fraudulent ID sales, per CBP’s press release.  The shipper of the package was a senior citizen resident of a nursing home that nearly fell prey to a phone scam.
