The Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) is a voluntary, supply chain program led by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This program focuses on improving the security of private companies’ international supply chains. This program is not only open to carriers, consolidators, licensed customs brokers, but also importers and manufacturers. CTPAT certified companies agree to work with CBP to protect the supply chain, identify security gaps, and implement security measures. Participation allows members to be considered lower risk.
Willson International supports CTPAT and encourages eligible partners to consider participating in the program. Importers that wish to be part of the CTPAT program must meet the eligibility requirements outlined on the CBP website.
To be accepted into CTPAT, your company must be able to meet certain security requirements. The CTPAT Minimum Security Criteria and Guidelines were recently updated for each type of role within the supply chain. There are three main focus areas for importers: Corporate Security, Transportation Security, People and Physical Security. These focus areas encompass:
