The Consumer Product Safety Commission is withdrawing the recently issued testing exemption for heavy metals on wood toys. The exemption ruling received ‘significant adverse comment’ and they will not seek further input. The Toy Industry Association said the exemption did not go far enough to reduce the burden in practice because so few companies import unfinished wooden toys.
