On March 12th, the Commerce Department ruled that all cedar shakes and shingles from Canada are exempt from antidumping and countervailing duties. This scope ruling was requested by the Canadian government and originated as a result of the softwood lumber dispute between the US and Canada.
Initially, the court-ordered exemption only applied to high-grade shakes and shingles, but Commerce determined that it should apply to all grades. The case numbers involved were A-122-857 and C-122-858.
