China Manufacturer Identification Numbers Postal Code Requirements

On March 18th, 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will institute the “UFLPA Region Alert” in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system. This change will automate the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act detention process.

There are two important points that our clients will need to know:

  1. If the commodity is classified in Chapters 50-63, the name, address, and postal code will be required. Please be sure to provide a valid postal code.
  2. Importers of other types of merchandise can choose to report either the manufacturer or the seller.

If the postal code is from a region with suspected Forced Labor, a “Region Alert” will be generated.
