The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced that, starting October 31st, exclusions from duties for commodities on List 4a of the China 301 tariffs will open. The current duty rate is 15 percent. The deadline to submit requests is January 31st, 2020.
Companies can submit their case to the government to have products excluded from these additional tariffs. If an exclusion is granted, it would be effective September 1st, 2019 and extend for one year after the exclusion is published in the Federal Register. The duties can be recovered retroactively through the filing of a post summary correction.
