On January 1, 2022, there will be updates to the Harmonized System (HS) code structure as a result of recent changes announced by the World Customs Organization. HS codes are used at the CFIA as part of the Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) and are updated every five years.
Importers and exporters who use the HS codes in the Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) should review the 2022 HS Code structure table for updates and use the Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) and/or the AIRS Verification Tool (AVS) to verify that their HS codes are valid.
