The Alcohol page of the Online Labelling Tool has been revised to enhance serviceability by expanding on its currently existing guidance. The information has been reorganized to set out clear product specific requirements, advertising requirements, and incorporate all previously listed decisions.
Salt
The Salt page of the Online Labelling Tool has been revised to enhance serviceability by expanding on its currently existing guidance. The information has been reorganized to include new sections such as product specific labelling requirements and claims and statements related to salt and salt substitutes.
Food Additives
Outdated references to Interim Marketing Authorizations (IMA) were replaced with references to Health Canada’s Marketing Authorizations (MA) related to caffeine as a food additive.
Information on the use of Temporary Marketing Authorization Letters (TMAL) to allow for the addition of food additive caffeine in Caffeinated Energy Drinks (CED) has been added.
Transition of CEDs
Health Canada has provided guidance to clarify the sources of food additive caffeine and its amount in a food that has high caffeine content.
