CFIA – Interim phytosanitary requirements for in-transit shipments

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has implemented interim phytosanitary requirements for in-transit shipments. These interim requirements are valid effective January 1, 2016 until the CFIA completes its comprehensive in-transit policy and program.

The interim protocol outlines requirements for in-transit shipments and the responsibilities of the CFIA, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the parties in care and control of a shipment.

The interim protocol will apply to all land transportation modes at all Canada – United States border crossings.

The interim requirements are available on the CFIA website.
