The Dairy page of the Industry Labelling Tool has been revised to include information on Health Canada’s voluntary guidance on improving the safety of soft and semi-soft cheese made from unpasteurized milk.
As part of this guidance, it is recommended that manufacturers label their products with the words “made from raw or unpasteurized milk” on the principal display panel of the product and/or declare the raw or unpasteurized milk in the list of ingredients. Â The purpose of this labelling is to assist consumers in making informed choices about the consumption of products containing unpasteurized milk, particularly for vulnerable populations who may be at greater risk of developing foodborne illness.
The Grain and Bakery Products page of the Industry Labelling Tool has been revised to improve organization of existing content and to further consolidate guidance on labelling and composition requirements. Â Additional examples have also been incorporated to expand on current guidance.
