The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is consulting consumers and industry stakeholders on a proposed change to the way that wine blended in Canada is labelled.
The Food and Drug Regulations currently require that a clear indication of the country of origin be declared on the wine label. The label change is being proposed to make it easier for Canadians to understand the origin of wine they are purchasing.
Have your say!
Do you support the replacement of the “Cellared in Canada†label statement with “International blend from imported and domestic wines†for wines blended in Canada? In the case where the wine is primarily of domestic origin, the statement “International blend from domestic and imported wines†would be used.
Let us know by completing the online survey by June 30, 2017.  For more information on this consultation, visit  the CFIA website.
