CBSA – Multi-Factor Authentication for Secure Online Services

The following message is provided by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)

The security of our online services is important to us.

In the upcoming weeks, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will be implementing multi-factor authentication. This extra layer of security will protect your client accounts when accessing CARM Client, CERS, eManifest and Trusted Trader portals.

Once in effect, a simple process will require users to register an email address to receive a one-time passcode they will use to login.

Information regarding multi-factor authentication and support information will be published on the CBSA website. To highlight this change, alerts will also be visible on the portal login pages and information bulletins will be sent to users.

CBSA has noticed that some e-mail domains, especially company domain names, are taking longer than the one-time passcode validity range to get through.

If you are receiving your passcode outside of the range of validity and getting and expired passcode reject, try using an e-mail with a different domain name, like a personal e-mail address.

If you already registered your e-mail address and are experiencing this issue, contact the TCCU to have your MFA reset.

We appreciate your awareness on this important change and invite you to Get Cyber Safe.
