As communicated in CSMS message #16-000561, the FDA recently finalized a rule that expanded the products that are subject to Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act.  As of August 8, the definition of ‘tobacco product’ will include electronic cigarettes, cigars, hookah, and pipe tobacco as well as their components and parts.  These products will need to be imported using the proper product codes. The FDA will issue more information in the lead up to the August 8th effective date.
