The Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) dairy permissions issued to businesses, under the now-repealed Dairy Inspection Regulations, will expire on March 31, 2019. These businesses will need a Safe Food for Canadians (SFCR) licence commencing April 1, 2019 to continue to operate in compliance with applicable regulations and avoid disruptions to trade.
Sign in to My CFIA to apply now for an SFCR licence.
SFCR licence holders must continue to comply with the requirements of the Safe Food for Canadians Act and the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations. The Food and Drugs Act and the Food and Drug Regulations also continue to apply.
Upon expiration of a current CFIA dairy permission (March 31, 2019), continuing to trade in import, export or interprovincial trade without an SFCR licence contravenes the Safe Food for Canadians Act and its Regulations, and may result in enforcement actions by the CFIA.
If businesses need help or have questions, they may contact the CFIA at 1.800.442.2342.
