Brown Rugose Fruit Virus & Admissibility

The U.S. Department of Agriculture previously issued a notice advising the trade those inspection requirements for Mexican tomatoes. The inspections will be for not only the brown rugose fruit virus, but also quality and condition defects. This applies to all fresh tomatoes with the exception of tomatoes on the vine, specialty tomatoes, and grape tomatoes in retail packages of 2 pounds or less.

If your company has merchandise refused, deemed inadmissible, or returned on an Emergency Action Notice, the merchandise must be brought into compliance before any attempt is made to reimport the goods.

If you have received a refusal and need further assistance, please contact the U.S. Regulatory team at transitionus@willsonintl.com.
