APHIS moves Fruit and Vegetable Import Permits to eFile!

The Animal Plant Health Inspection Agency’s (APHIS) Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) division moved fruit and vegetable import permits to a new online permitting system named eFile. This webpage offers a simple way to apply for and receive your fresh fruit and vegetable import permits.

On February 1st, the eFile options expanded. Users can now:

  • Apply for more fruits and vegetables commodities by choosing different process types such as fresh, dried, and frozen, among others. All other permit types will continue to be issued through ePermits.
  • Renew, amend, and cancel your permits that have been issued in APHIS eFile.

APHIS asks stakeholders to use eFile for all fruit and vegetable import requests. PPQ will no longer issue fruits and vegetables Q.56 permits from ePermits. PPQ Form 587 permits will still use ePermits (e.g., seeds not for planting), however, all PPQ Form 587 permit requests will be available in APHIS eFile in the future.
