Pup Joints – Expiry Review Determination

On August 2, 2016, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT), initiated an expiry review conncerning the dumping and subsidizing of oil country tubular goods pup joints made of carbon or alloy steel, welded or seamless, heat-treated or not heat-treated, regardless of end finish originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China (China).

On August 3, 2016, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) initiated an expiry review investigation to determine whether the expiry of the finding is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping and/or subsidizing of the subject goods and has determined that the expiry of the finding, is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of such goods originating in or exported from China; and is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of subsidizing of such goods originating in or exported from China.

A Statement of Reasons that contains additional details concerning the determination made by the CBSA will be issued within 15 days.

The CITT will now conduct an inquiry to determine whether the expiry of its order is likely to result in injury to the Canadian industry and has announced that it will issue its decision no later than April 7, 2017.

Copper Pipe Fittings – Expiry Review

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) has conducted an expiry review concerning the dumping of solder joint pressure pipe fittings and solder joint drainage, waste and vent pipe fittings, made of cast copper alloy, wrought copper alloy or wrought copper, for use in heating, plumbing, air conditioning and refrigeration applications, originating in or exported from the United States of America, the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China, and the subsidizing of such goods originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China.

The CITT hereby continues, with amendment to exclude certain products, its order in respect of the aforementioned goods originating in or exported from the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China.
