Gypsum Board from United States of America (Notice of Preliminary Determination)

On September 6, 2016, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), pursuant to subsection 38(1) of the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), made a preliminary determination of dumping with respect to certain gypsum board originating in or exported from the United States of America, imported into Canada for use or consumption in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, as well as the Yukon and Northwest Territories.

The goods in question are usually classified under the following Harmonized System (HS) classification number:

6809.11.00.10

Note that this HS code is for convenience of reference only.  Refer to the product definition for authoritative details regarding the subject goods.  Provisional duties will now be payable on the subject goods that are released from customs on or after September 6, 2016.

Concrete Reinforcing Bar (Initiation of Investigation)

The Canada Border Services Agency initiated an investigation on August 19, 2016, respecting the alleged injurious dumping of hot-rolled deformed steel concrete reinforcing bar in straight lengths or coils, commonly identified as rebar, in various diameters up to and including 56.4 millimeters, in various finishes, excluding plain round bar and fabricated rebar products, originating in or exported from the Republic of Belarus, Chinese Taipei, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, Japan, the Portuguese Republic and the Kingdom of Spain. Also excluded is 10 mm diameter (10M) rebar produced to meet the requirements of CSA G30 18.09 (or equivalent standards) that is coated to meet the requirements of epoxy standard ASTM A775/A 775M 04a (or equivalent standards) in lengths from 1 foot (30.48 cm) up to and including 8 feet (243.84 cm).
