Initiation of investigations – Mattresses

The Canada Border Services Agency initiated investigations on February 24, 2022, respecting the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of certain mattresses originating in or exported from China.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will conduct a preliminary inquiry to determine whether the evidence discloses a reasonable indication that the alleged dumping and subsidizing of the goods has caused or is threatening to cause injury to the Canadian industry

If the CITT finds that the evidence discloses a reasonable indication of injury to the Canadian industry and the CBSA’s preliminary investigations reveal that the goods have been dumped and/or subsidized, the CBSA will make preliminary determinations of dumping and/or subsidizing within 90 days after the date of the initiation of the investigations, by May 25, 2022.

The allegedly dumped goods and subsidized goods are normally imported under the following tariff classification numbers:

9404.21.00.00 & 9404.29.00.00

Expiry review determination – Large line pipe

On February 24, 2022, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) determined that the expiry of the finding made by the Canadian International Trade Tribunal:

1. is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of welded large diameter carbon and alloy steel line pipe originating in or exported from China and Japan and

2. is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of subsidizing of welded large diameter carbon and alloy steel line pipe originating in or exported from China
