The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) released the final rule which requires the transmission of National Organic Program certificates for all organic products imported to the United States at the time of entry.
The final rule will go into effect on March 19th, 2024.
This requirement will strengthen oversight of the production, handling, certification, marketing, and sale of organic agricultural products as established by the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990.
This final rule will allow organic certifiers to issue certificates for a specific time frame and volume. The certificate can cover a week, month, or a season of imports for organic products. The rule requires certifying agents to issue standardized certificates of organic operation generated from the USDA’s Organic Integrity Database (OID) for the import process.
Unfortunately, the USDA has found several issues in the supply chain including mishandling of organic products and organic fraud.

Please note we continue to work with our integration partners on the programming needed to facilitate the data.
